Painting out the Kinks!

Just a week ago I hung 11 new paintings in a show at Asheville School, a part of a group show.  I got a late start on the work I wanted to do for the show and so I really cranked it up and worked and painted and actually had to do that to make the deadline.
I work best with a deadline but this one just about got away from me.  So I took a week and a half off - no painting.  Today I was ready to start back, but I actually had not cleared my head yet.  So I decided to work small ish and try a new subject.
Now that Spring is just around the corner I am very aware of the new greens, flowers and the birds.  So I decided to paint some birds.
It was fun and it is always interesting when you change subjects - probably good for the brain.  It is just like exercising - your body gets used to one form of exercise and when you change it up it is pretty challenging.
Anyway, it took a bit for me to be comfortable with what I was doing.  Mostly I was playing in the luscious paint.
I had a couple of 12 x 12 canvases that had tried to be a painting, with acrylics and had great texture.  I used them.
As usual I didn't know what I wanted the finished painting to look like - just I will know it when I see it.  So I let the paint develop, and kept encouraging it a bit to form a bird's body.
I made some videos of parts of the process because I thought you would be interested in watching the movement of the paint.  That is always fascinating to me.  What do you think of my first bird?
