Well, I got this idea to open the email with a video of me walking toward you with a painting. By the way, this is the site of the inspiration for this painting, In the Woods. And it is right in my backyard. Anyway, seems it is not technically possible to do that from a newsletter service like the one I use. So that is why the extra step. Took me hours of trying before I gave up and made a webpage.
I got a late start on new work this year because I took a break the first half. And like most vacations I have been working extra hard to catch and create some beautiful paintings. This one is a favorite. I continue to find inspiration in nature and landscape based scenes. So much to pull from - shapes, colors and emotions! In the Woods makes me feel peaceful, and I love and need the feeling of peacefulness I get when I am full into the woods.
Alot of people have been visiting my studio - and you know the question I am asked the most? How do you know when you're finished? Since I don't use a direct source for my paintings I guess that is a reasonable question. How do I know when to stop playing in the luscious texture and color of oil paint? For me, I get a little lift in my chest almost like a little excitment. Then I step back, take a good look - and YAY! It is finished.
I am in my studio most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and can be there anytime by appointment. Call me or text if you have questions and yes, this one is available. Maybe not for long, who knows. 828-774-9054, nsdasheville@gmail.com
